FRIDAY FAVORITES – FALL ESSENTIALS

I’m kicking off a new weekly series – Friday Favorites – with my all time favorite season and my must have fall essentials.

Like the majority of people, autumn is by far my favorite season.  I love the cooler temperatures, the colors of the leaves as they change, cozy sweaters and blankets, and of course pumpkin spice anything.  There are a couple of things I like to save for the fall.  The ritual of pulling out these special items really helps me settle into the changing seasons.

Today, I’m sharing some of my essientials to welcome fall, and embrace the next couple of months.

A COZY BLANKET

Excluding coffee, this is my number one essential and my favorite part of the cooler temperatures.  Is there anything better than cozying up with a great blanket?  I am obsessed with this blanket from The Land of Nod.  While they are typically known for their baby blankets, this one is the perfect blanket for snuggling up during those in between temperatures.

VEGAN LEATHER JACKET

I am by no means a fashion blogger, but there is no better accessory in the fall, than a chic leather jacket.  Paired with just about anything, it’s perfect for tailgate parties to a night out.

APPLE CRISP, APPLE PIE, APPLE CIDER, and CARAMEL APPLES

One of my favorite memories from my childhood is going to the apple orchard to pick fresh apples.  After we were finished picking, we sat around with pink noses and sipped hot apple cider.  Once we were home, we peeled and chopped apples before dousing them in cinnamon.

Since there are no orchards around where I live, I’ve continued on another tradition from my childhood – fondue caramel apples.  My kids love gathering around the fondue pot, bubbling with melted caramel, and taking turns dipping our apple pieces into the golden goodness.

If you’re looking to save time cutting and peeling all those apples, check out this gorgeous, vintage inspired, peeler and corer.

A MUG FILLED WITH ANYTHING HOT

Who else counts down the days until pumpkin spiced lattes arrive?  They taste like heaven and smell like autumn.  In addition to my weakness for anything pumpkin spice,  I have an obsession with coffee mugs.  I have a smallish collection of beautiful and unique mugs I’ve found at consignment and thrift stores.  They make me happy every time I use them.  I save a few really special ones just for fall.

A GOOD WORKOUT

If you’re anything like me, you probably ate an extra slice of pie and had one too many pumpkin spiced lattes.  Fall is when my work outs start to get less and less, but this year I really want to focus on staying healthy through out the year.  I just signed up for a free trial of the Daily Burn, so that I can have access to tons of different workouts right from home.  When it’s cold outside, I have a much harder time going for a walk or to the gym.  Right now you can try it for free for 30 days!  Click the link below to register for your trial.
