DIY VISION BOARD IN THREE EASY STEPS

Ready to go a little bit on the “woo-woo” side of things?  Of course you are!  Let me share with you my version of The Secret.

Visualization is one of the most powerful tools you can use to achieve your goals.  The easiest  way to use this technique is to create a vision board.  Creating a sacred space that encompasses all of your true desires, brings them to life.   Think about it.  When you display a vision board that you’ll see often through out the day, you are basically doing short visualization exercises every time you see it.

Focusing on a desired outcome, changes your brain.  You can trust me on this one.  I researched it.  When you visualize it affects your neural pathways and connections, making you open to valuable information.  Basically, your subconscious is creating a space for these things to happen and allowing different experiences and people into your reality that otherwise you wouldn’t have paid attention too.  Pretty cool, right?

The best part – Vision boards are easy to make and simple to use.

How to create a vision board in three easy steps.

Gather Materials – You will need a couple of things to get started.

  • Poster board, cork board, or another medium of your choice that you can display
  • Glue, pins, or tape for adding your items to the board
  • Images, quotes, words, and photos
  • A photo of yourself
  • Any additional embellishments that you would like to add

This is the fun part.  Design your vision board – Set aside some time to work on your vision board.  You want enough time to be able to complete it in one sitting.  When putting together your vision board, there is a specific method of design that is shown to work best for visualization.

Put your photograph is the center and use this chart as a guide to add  your images, quotes, words and anything else that represents your desires.  If you prefer to do yours a little different, go for it!  There is no wrong or right way to create a vision board.  If you would like to download the chart, grab it right here

Hang it somewhere prominent.  Hang your vision board somewhere you’ll see it often through out the day.  Make it a habit to stop and look at it when you pass by.  Take your time and really look at each word and picture.

I honestly love looking at mine.  It’s not the most glamorous vision board.  Martha Stewart would probably gag if she saw it, but I love it none the less.  Each item truly makes me happy to look at.  When I look at it, I try to focus my attention on each item, imagining how it will feel to have it in my life.  It’s an instant mood booster.  A paper version of Prozac!

If you’re not home very often, you might want to make a virtual vision board.  That could be anything from a board on Pinterest to a note on your phone.  Just be sure to take some time during the day to look through it.   Need some inspiration?   Check out my virtual vision board.  (Also, not super glamorous, but it might give you some ideas!)

Once you make your vision board, or if you already have one, I’d love to see it!
